Old Computer History
In ancient times, people used stones to determine statistics and places. You may be wondering what this has to do with computers, but if you read our entire article, you will surely understand that statistics has a close relationship with computers. So in ancient times, people used stones, wood, and bones to estimate their animals, things, and paths. Because the people of that time were neither educated nor did they have to count. Because till then there were no numbers and no operator. So people used stones, wood, and bones to trade and send messages to each other. At that time, the wood of the Hazel tree was cut and marked on it and used for trade and communication. As in today’s era receipt is given. At that time, the same piece of wood would be divided into two parts one would be kept for oneself and the other would be given as a receipt. When there was no computer, people used to do the calculation themselves, which was laborious and took years to learn.
Therefore, very few people could see the accounting issues. Nowadays, pages and computers are used to save records, in olden times tally sticks were used for conveying messages and keeping records.
Computer Word
In 1613, the name of the computer was heard for the first time. In 2400 B.C., a scientist named Babylonia introduced a device called an abacus. Which was used in China in 500 B.C. and became famous for using the abacus to perform basic arithmetic operators like addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division.
Napier’s bones
In 1614, John Napier invented Napier’s bones which helped in understanding multiplication, division, cube, and square. Following Napier’s formula, William Oughtred invented the slide rule in 1622. Instead of adding and subtracting, the slide task was to solve multiplication, division, roots, logarithms, and trigonometry. Another device called Pascaline was invented by Blaise Pascal in 1642. which was used for addition and differentiation. But it proved quite expensive. Due to its high cost, it could not be accepted. And sometime later in 1672, Gottfried Wilhelm Leibniz invented the Stepped Rockner, a machine that automatically performed addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division. In 1881, Joseph Marie Jacquard invented a device called the Jacquard Loom.
In 1820, Thomas De Colmar invented a mechanical calculator named Arithmometer. It was the first successful calculator that helped people a lot in trading.
First Mechanical Computer
Charles Babbage, the father of computers, developed the first mechanical computer between 1822 and 1834. And laid the foundation of difference engines and analytical engine. In 1840, Augusta Ada Byron advised Charles to use the binary system in his computer. And Augusta was the first scientist computer programmer. And he wrote the first program on the analytical engine which was created by Charles Babbage.
In 1843, Georg Scheutz made the first printing calculator based on Charles’ differential engine. And his name was the Scheutzian calculation engine. In 1890, Herman Hollerith invented the tabulating machine. In 1943, Howard H. Aiken built the first electromechanical computer named Howard Mark 1.
After that, the first programmable computer was built by Konrad Zuse of Germany between 1936 and 1938 and was named Z1. This computer worked with the help of punch tape. And thus progressing we reached the ABC Computer i.e. Atanasoff Berry Computer. This computer was built by Clifford Berry Law University Graduate Professor John Atanasoff between 1939 and 1942. After that, the ENIAC computer came into existence, which was the first general computer. The computer we use today was built by John Presper Eckert and John W.Muchal in 1946. After that, these two scientists invented the UNIVC1 computer. And then in 1952, Von Neumann introduced the EDVC computer which could store programs and data.
Then the first portable computer, Osborn 1″ was brought out by Osborn Computer Corporation. It could be picked up and taken anywhere. All the computers produced before that were quite large in size and kept in one place. lived and the world’s first computer company, which was the Electronic Control Company, was founded in 1949 by John Mauchly and J. Presper Eckert.
