A decade after the events of the first film, Jack Sully lives as the head of Umatica and raises a family with Neytiri. including his sons Netiam and Loak and his daughter Tok, his adopted daughter Carrie (born from Grace Augustine’s inert. Na’vi avatar), and a human boy named Spider. The Son of Miles Quarch. was born on Pandora and was unable to migrate to Earth in cryostasis. To the dismay of the Navi, the humans return to Pandora to colonize it and build a new central operating base. The New Arrivals I am Quaritch, cloned into a Navi body and fitted with memories of his template from before his death.

Jack is leading a guerrilla campaign against the RDA supply lines. Quaritch launches a search mission to kill Jack, and his squad captures Jack’s children. Jack and Natiri arrive and free most of them. But Spider is captured by Quarch who recognizes him as his son. He decides to spend time with the spider in order to attract it, and as a result, the spider teaches Quaritch about Navi culture. Aware of the danger posed by the spider’s knowledge of their whereabouts, Jack and his family banish themselves from Umatica and return to the tribe of the Matkaina Reef people on Pandora’s eastern seaboard. Where they are sheltered, some of the tribesmen mock Jack and his children. Their genetic human heritage. As the family learns the ways of the Reef People, Carrie develops a spiritual bond with the ocean and its creatures. And Luak befriended Siria, the daughter of the chief of the clan Tonwari and his wife Ronal.

Lo’ak gets into a fight with Tsireya’s brother Aonung. When he returns to apologize at Jack’s insistence, Ong and his friends lure him into the territory of a dangerous sea predator. Loak is rescued and befriended by a telecon named Piakan, an intelligent and peace-loving cetacean species whom the Matkaina consider their spiritual family. On his return Luak, having won Aoning’s friendship accuses himself but is told that Piakan is a reprobate of his race. On a trip to a branch of the Tree of Souls, Carrie approaches her mother to meet her. But he has violent seizures. He is healed by Ronal, but when Jack calls Norm Spellman and Max Patel for help, Quaritch manages to get them to the island. Where the reef people live. Bringing Spider with him, he commands a whaling ship that is hunting Tilkins in order to develop brain enzymes to protect them from aging. Quaritch begins brutally questioning the local tribes about Jack’s whereabouts. Failing that, he orders the wheeling crew to kill the Tolkiens mercilessly to get Jack out. Luak mentally connects with Peacon and learns that Telcon was banished because he went against the ways of his race and attacked the Whalers who killed his mother.

When Matkaina learns of the slaughter of Talkun, Luak sets off to warn Piakan, followed by his siblings, Tseria and Aoning. They see Pycon being chased by whalers. And Luak, Kari, and Tok are captured by Quarch. With their children in danger, Jake, Natiri, and Matkaina set out to confront the humans. Quaritch forces Jack to surrender; But seeing his mortal brother in danger, Peakin attacks the whalers. A fight ensues which kills most of the crew and severely damages the ship causing it to sink. Natiem saves Luak and the spider but is shot. Jack confronts Quaritch. who uses Carrie as a hostage. When Neytiri does the same to Spider, Quarch at first disowns his son. But when Neytiri bites the spider on the chest, he stops.

Jake, Quaritch, Neytiri, and Tuk get trapped inside the sinking vessel. Jack chokes Quaritch into unconsciousness and is rescued by Lo’ak and Payakan, and Kiri summons the sea creatures to help save Neytiri and Tuk. Spider finds Quaritch and revives him. But because of his cruelty, he gives up and rejoins Jack’s family. After Nateem’s funeral, Jack informs Chief Tonori and his wife Ronal of his decision to leave Matkaina. Tonori, however, respectfully identifies him as part of the clan and welcomes his family to stay. Jack and his family accept and build a new life at sea.
